Mar-Train Racing takes delivery of Yamaha's new YZF-R1

International road racing team Mar-Train Racing has unveiled its new Yamaha YZF-R1 machines for the 2015 season
Northern Ireland's Mar-Train Racing team has taken delivery of Yamaha's all-new YZF-R1M machines ahead of the 2015 international road racing season.

Tim Martin's team will focus solely on the roads scene this year after a successful spell in the British Supersport championship, clinching the title in 2013 with Stuart Easton.

Mar-Train Racing will be Yamaha UK's official roads squad in 2015 and 2016 with Dean Harrison spearheading the team's challenge and team owner Martin is relishing the chance to get to work on their two brand new YZF-R1M machines.

“We attended the Milan motorcycle show as guests of Yamaha UK [in November] and the hype around the launch of the new R1 really was something else,” Martin said.

“Time will tell of course on just how successful it will be but Yamaha have put a lot of thought and money into the producing a sports bike inspired by MotoGP technology so I am sure they will be a fantastic piece of kit.

“'Boost' has been working hard on the R6 over the winter to allow us to now concentrate on preparing the R1 for Dean so we cannot wait to see what the big girls are like under the skin,” he added.

“This is a two-year project with Yamaha UK but their support to date has been fantastic and Dean has proven himself a winner on both Supersport and Superbike machinery so I am confident we have the right combination to win races sooner rather than later.”

Mar-Train Racing has taken delivery of two new machines will run the R1 in the Superbike and Superstock classes with Harrison plus the iconic YZF-R6, which has brought the team so much success in recent years.

In addition to the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix, Mar-train will compete in selected Irish National road races, the Southern 100 and a number of Scarborough events.

Ulsterman Michael Dunlop will also ride a factory-backed R1 Superbike this year in the Milwaukee colours in Shaun Muir's team after announcing his plans last week.
