NW200: Harrison eyes maiden victory

Exciting roads prospect Dean Harrison spearheads Northern Ireland team Mar-Train Racing's victory challenge at the North West 200, with Gary Johnson joining the team for the Supersport races
Dean Harrison head into the North West 200 seeking his first victory around the high-speed 8.9-mile course on the new Mar-Train Racing Yamaha R1.

The Bradford rider spearheads the Northern Ireland team's challenge at the international events in 2015, with Mar-Train flying the flag as Yamaha UK's official roads team.

Harrison, who gave the next generation R1 its maiden roads success at the Scarborough Spring Cup meeting in April, is joined in the team by Gary Johnson, who will ride in the Supersport class on the Yamaha R6, complementing his Superbike and Superstock rides on the GBmoto Racing Kawasaki machines.

“We didn't have much luck at last year's North West 200 but I showed I had the pace to run at the front,” Harrison said.

“We've had two good race meetings and lots of testing so far this year so all three bikes are perfect, the boys have certainly given me the tools for the job so I'm ready to rock on Tuesday.”

Team principal Tim Martin said he had confidence both riders would be right in the mix for glory as the teams aims to build on its success at the event last year, when Alastair Seeley notched a Superstock and Supersport double.

“Of course you are always apprehensive heading into a big event like the North West but I have a great team of guys and two very capable and confident riders,” he said.

“Dean is really gelling with the bikes now and Gary showed great promise at the test last week.

“We've put the effort in both on and off the track over the past few months and thanks to the support of Yamaha UK we have a great all round package, which I am confident will be competitive.”
