TT 2015: Martin exasperated by first lap breakdown

Tyco BMW rider Guy Martin was forced out of the RST Superbike TT on the opening lap at Ballagarey with an electrical issue.
Tyco BMW's Guy Martin said he was a 'little bit angry' after his challenge in the RST Superbike TT was ended on the opening lap at Ballagarey with machine trouble.

Martin's S1000RR cut out with an electrical issue forcing Martin out of the action minutes after the race started.

The Grimsby rider, who has never won a TT but has finished on the podium 15 times, said: “I don't know what happened is the honest answer, only I was a little bit angry, but that's racing.

“The boys work hard for me and have done again tonight going over the bike with a fine-tooth comb. Tomorrow's a new day.”

Martin was sixth fastest overall on the Superbike practice leaderboard behind his team-mate William Dunlop, who finished fifth on Sunday.

Tyco BMW team manager Philip Neill said the team would leave no stone unturned to ensure the problem doesn't resurface this week.

“I can't really comment on what happened to Guy's bike as I need to debrief with the team and get the correct information as yet, but at the minute it's a simple as saying the bike simply developed some type of electrical problem which forced him to stop and he wasn't able to re-start,” said Neill.

“It's a disappointment for the whole team and I can assure you no stone will be left unturned to make sure it doesn't repeat itself this week.”
