The bikes probably are too fast. But that's also why they're so awesome... what can you do? Don't know about the claim volumes but there seems to be more fatalities in road racing, so I don't know. Insurance premiums have gone up for a lot of things over the past few years - all the global extreme weather events and other claims fan back to everyone else. Insurers offset their risks with reinsurance underwriters, who offset their risk etc...it all gets pooled. I don't like to say it, but maybe road racing as we know it might become an endangered species.
