The Blackhorse Kawasaki team of Ian Lougher, Conor Cummins and David Pearce enjoyed a successful and very useful four-day test in Cartagena last week.

Cummins was particularly impressive, the talented Manxman was consistently on the pace of the other top BSB 1000cc Superstock riders who were present at the circuit, including Steve Plater and John McGuinness.

Conor said he felt very pleased to be on board Kawasaki Motors UK Official entry machine and back on Maxton suspension and found he could do race distance on one tyre very comfortably on the ZX-10R.

He went on to say ''I love the power of the ZX-10R, it's awesome. The Blackhorse Kawasaki team have all worked hard and well together over the four days, and gave me a good package and base setting to start from when we arrive at Brands Hatch for the first round of the series at Easter."

Meanwhile fellow Manxman David Pearce completed over 140 laps in his bid to get to grips with Blackhorse Kawasaki's ZX-6R, as it was the young rider's first time on a four stroke bike. David has honed his skills riding a 125cc two-stroke for the past three seasons.

The test at Cartagena was an experience he particularly relished and he acquitted himself really well on the vastly different machine.

David commented, ''I really enjoyed my trip to Spain and I have been so looking forward to having my first go on a 600cc machine. I wanted to test before now to familiarize myself with the differences to a 125, but the weather has been so bad recently its been impossible to test anywhere. I am still getting used to the bike and realize I have a lot to learn in a short space of time, but with the team's help combined with Ian's experience, I know I couldn't be in a better position and am already looking forward to my next time on the bike.''

He concluded, ''I started off cautiously and steadily built up the pace as I knew we had four days here. I found the engine braking the biggest change to get used to, and although we had a small problem to work around on the front forks, I was pleased with my overall times.''

Team Manager/Rider Ian Lougher completed approximately 50 laps on board David Pearce's ZX-6 to help his young Junior Superstock prot?g? find a good base set-up. Ian also had his first outing on the recently finished ZX-10R Superbike which he will campaign at the 2010 International Road Races.

Ian Lougher: ''I loved my first trip out on my Superbike and it's an absolute rocket. Frank and Ian at F.W Developments have once again done me proud with the performance of the engine. It's early days yet as far as getting a good set-up of the chassis is concerned, as we were restricted to using last year's second hand tyres. However, having had significant help in this area from Paul Bird's factory backed team, I feel very confident we will find a good setting.
Now we head to Albacete for an Official Dunlop test next week where all the latest 2010 development tyres will be available to me. Obviously, with Conor and David both having to use Metzeler control tyres on their bikes, they are not eligible to test at Albacete, therefore they will head back home to blighty.

I feel we have achieved a great deal at the Cartegena test and were very lucky with the weather, only losing half a day due to rain. Let's hope it's good weather next week as a lot of Spain has been hit by a heavy snowfall!!"
