TT 2013: Guy Martin unfazed by practice speeds

1 June 2013

Guy Martin may be fifth fastest in the timing charts for tomorrow's six-lap Superbike TT but the Tyco Suzuki rider is oozing confidence ahead of the big race.

Martin lapped at 128.680mph yesterday as he prepares for the first solo event of the 2013 festival on the Isle of Man and also topped the Superstock times at 127.023mph.

Afterwards, the Lincolnshire rider described his GSX-R1000 Superbike as 'as good as it's ever been around here'.

“Only two men have done 130mph laps so far [Michael Dunlop and John McGuinness], but that doesn't bother me," he said.

“For a number of reasons we maybe didn't get the clear laps we needed but the bike feels really strong; as a matter of fact it's as good as it has even been around here, so I'm confident going into tomorrow.

“The Metzeler boys are doing a top job for us with those tyres and the combination of Ohlins suspension and good tyres makes the job so much better,” added Martin

“I'm looking forward to tomorrow.”

Martin was also fifth quickest on his GSX-R600 Supersport machine today at 123.889mph.
