Guy Martin pens new deal with Tyco Suzuki for 2014
16 August 2013
Guy Martin has signed a new deal with Northern Ireland road racing team Tyco TAS Suzuki for 2014.
Speculation had been rife concerning Martin's plans for next season with the Lincolnshire rider linked to a number of teams, but the 31-year-old will remain with Philip and Hector Neill's outfit for a fourth consecutive season.
Martin, who starts tomorrow's Ulster Grand Prix on the front row in second place for the Superbike races and on pole position for the Supersport 600 class, is still chasing an elusive victory at the Isle of Man TT.
He hasn't finished on the rostrum at the biggest road race meeting in the world since 2011, while the TAS Racing team's previous victory at the event was back in 2008, when Bruce Anstey was victorious in the Supersport class.
Martin, though, remains adamant his best chance of a first victory on the Mountain Course lies with the Tyco Suzuki team.
“There's been a lot of chatter and talk about who's riding for who next year but I don't like gossip.
“The most important thing in racing is that you want to win and that you enjoy your racing - I don't think you're going to enjoy your racing any more than you will with TAS, it's good craic,” he said.
“Everyone gets on and we're only serious when we have to be serious. We haven't won a TT yet but it will come and my best chance of winning is with these boys.”
Martin won the Solo Championship race at the Southern 100 in July.
