British Supersport title contender Alastair Seeley had the bit between his teeth as the Northern Ireland rider set the pace during final qualifying on his Yamaha R6 at the North West 200.

Seeley will start the Supersport races from pole after a best lap at 117.16mph as the Carrick man headed Michael Rutter on the Smiths Triumph (116.87mph)

The front row is completed by Lee Johnston on the East Coast Honda, who earlier secured pole for the Supertwin class on his Kawasaki.

Tuesday's frontrunner William Dunlop heads up row two on the Tyco Suzuki GSX-R600 followed by Lincolnshire man Gary Johnson (Smiths Triumph) and Australia's Josh Brookes on the Milwaukee Yamaha R6.

Brookes is a former World Supersport race winner and has been quickly building up his speed on the 600cc machine this week as he makes his competitive return to the class for the first time in six years.

Scottish rider Keith Amor, second fastest in the Supertwin class, was seventh fastest as the 42-year-old bagged a row three start on the Rig Deluge Honda.

Guy Martin (Tyco Suzuki) and John McGuinness (Padgett's Honda) join Amor in eighth and ninth places respectively, with Dean Harrison on a second Mar-Train Racing Yamaha rounding out the first ten.

Michael Dunlop, who won the Supersport race on the Thursday of race week last year, was 12th on his Honda.
