16 August 2009
Manxman Conor Cummins continued his winning ways at Dundrod, taking the chequered flag in the main Stoneyford Concrete Ulster Grand Prix Superbike Race, following on from his record breaking victory in the Dundrod 150 Superbike race two days earlier.
The McAdoo Kawasaki rider, took his first international race win in what was an eight lap epic battle between Guy Martin, Bruce Anstey, Gary Johnson and Ian Hutchinson, who was down in seventh at the end of the opening lap and finished 0.136 of a second behind the winner, with Guy Martin third.
Guy Martin also scored his first Ulster Grand Prix win in the second Superbike event in yet another closely fought race long contest, the advantage being a mere 0.117 of a second over fellow Honda rider Gary Johnson.
The Ulster Grand Prix, round 21 of the Duke Rankings Series once again provided current title holder and 2009 front-runner Ryan Farquhar, with the Man of the Meeting award, after taking two wins - Supersport and Supertwins; two seconds in the Superstock and second Supersport race and a sixth in the feature race.
William Dunlop took the 250cc honours ahead of his younger brother Michael, with Welshman Paul Owen filling the final podium place.
Whilst Ian Hutchinson took the opening Superstock race honours and followed that with a second and sixth in the Supersport races, and a second and third in the Superbike events, which moves him 11 places to tenth spot in the rankings table.
Attention now moves to the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix, before the penultimate round at Killalane in Southern Ireland, then to Oliver's Mount Scarborough for the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup Road Races.
