Organisers of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB have announced that the series will run of its ten events next year as a support race to the Le Mans 24 Hours.

In what will be the first season for the new 'Type 911' version of the 911 GT3 Cup model, the series will join the Carrera Cup France in racing at the Circuit de la Sarthe, while drivers competing in the GT3 Cup Challenge GB will also be invited to compete.

The decision to hold a support race at Le Mans comes in the season when Porsche will make a return to the premier LMP1 class with its new hybrid car.

The Le Mans support race will replace the Oulton Park round of the British series in order to retain a ten-event schedule. The remaining nine events will run as scheduled alongside the British Touring Car Championship.

"This is an incredible opportunity for drivers in both the Carrera Cup GB and the GT3 Cup Challenge to be involved in one of the biggest events in Porsche motor sport history," Porsche Cars GB Motorsport manager, Marion Barnaby, said. "It is a massive boost for both Championships as we move towards the new model for the Carrera Cup in 2014. The response from teams and drivers has already been extremely positive."
