Porsche has confirmed it will enter a factory team into the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship when it launches next season.

Running under the Porsche Cars North America banner, the team will field a two-car team running the latest incarnation of the 911 RSR - as was used to take victory in the GTE-Pro class at Le Mans this season.

Porsche outfit CORE Autosport will act as competition partner for the programme, which is set to utilise factory drivers in both cars.

"North America is Porsche's single largest road car and motorsports market," Hartmut Kristen, head of Weissach, Germany based Porsche Motorsport. "Therefore, we have decided to focus a full factory programme in the newly formed series, similar to our competing in the World Endurance Championship together with Manthey Racing.

"Having finally a unified platform to compete on has made the decision so much easier to enter a GT based Porsche factory team for the first time in American sports car racing."
