Sir Chris Hoy insists that it has always been a childhood dream to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours, and now he could be on the road to achieving it.

Britain's most decorated Olympic gold medallist will embark on a driver development journey with Nissan that could see him racing in the endurance classic by 2016, starting with him swapping two wheels for four as he competes for Nissan GB in the 2014 British GT Championship.

The aim is to hone the Scot - who has dabbled in low-level sportscar racing over the past couple of years - into a driver capable of challenging for podiums and race wins at national level before potentially progressing to the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours race, potentially in 2016.
