Anthony Davidson feels the new Toyota TS040 Hybrid is a 'big step forward' over its prodocessor as he looks to help the manufacturer get an edge over its rivals in the World Endurance Championship opener at Silverstone.

Though it has shown winning potential against Audi in the last two seasons, the Japanese firm is yet to overhaul its main rivals in the key races, while the arrival of Porsche raises the competition level for 2014 too.

Nonetheless, former F1 driver Davidson believes the new TS040 Hybrid, which Toyota proclaims produces almost 1000bhp, is enough of an improvement over its predecessor that the manufacturer can be confident heading to the British venue.
