Porsche head into qualifying for the 2014 World Endurance Championship opener, the Silverstone 6 Hours, as the cautious favourites after topping final free practice around the British circuit.

Having played second fiddle to Audi after the first day of action, Porsche struck back convincingly in FP3 with the 919 Hybrid shared by Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard leading the way, just a tenth up on the sister machine of Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb.

Following two-by-two behind, Audi were third and fourth best with the R18 e-tron Quattro, four and ninth tenths adrift respectively, while Toyota assumed fifth and sixth, the Davidson/Lapierre/Buemi machine leading its counterpart.

In LMP2, the G-Drive Morgan Nissan continued to set the pace ahead of its Oreca rivals, while Ferrari returned to the top spot in the LM GTE Pro class courtesy of defending champions Gimmi Bruno and Toni Vilander in the AF Corse machine. The Italian firm was also in charge in the GTE Am class too with the Bird/Rugolo/Wyatt F458 Italia proving both quickest in class and an impressive 14th overall.
