WEC: G-Drive switches to Ligier chassis

LMP2 title contenders G-Drive announce it will switch from the Morgan chassis to the new closed-roof Ligier JS P2 in the United States.
G-Drive will become the first LMP2 team to switch to a closed-roof prototype in the World Endurance Championship after confirming a move to the Ligier JS P2 chassis from the upcoming 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas race.

The Russian-funded, OAK Racing prepared outfit competed with the Morgan LMP2 for the opening three rounds of the season for drivers Olivier Pla, Julien Canal and Roman Rusinov, but signalled its desire to make a switch to the new Ligier JS P2 after entering one for Jann Mardenborough, Alex Brundle and Mark Schulzitskiy at Le Mans.

With the Ligier, which has been developed to the latest generation coupe regulations, proving competitive in the classic endurance event, G-Drive will move Pla, Canal and Rusinov over to the machine for the fourth WEC round in the United States.

Pla, Canal and Rusinov won the opening two rounds of the season, but a retirement in the more lucrative Le Mans round has seen it slip behind SMP Racing in the overall LMP2 standings.
