The championship leading #8 Toyota of Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and Nicolas Lapierre moved to the top of the World Endurance timesheets in Austin as rain arrived to make things particularly tricky around the Circuit of the Americas.

With the 6 hour race to be started as the sun is setting and into the night, FP2 was held in dark conditions, but a storm prior to the session starting made things particularly difficult for the drivers, who are required to complete laps under floodlights in order to race.

With lap times some 10secs down on FP1, the Toyota TS040 Hybrid of Davidson, Buemi and Lapierre was quickest, ahead of the #1 Audi of Tom Kristensen, Loic Duval and Lucas di Grassi. The #7 Toyota and the Le Mans-winning #2 Audi were third and fourth, with the #20 Porsche of Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard leading the German marque's challenge.
