WEC: Strakka delays new car to 2015

After a series of delays throughout 2014, Strakka Racing decide to postpone its new LMP2 entry until the start of the 2015 season.
Strakka Racing's much-delayed LMP2 entry has been pushed back to 2015 after it risked failing homologation for the car to make its planned debut in Brazil.

The British firm has endured a troubled year with its new DOME S103 chassis with repeated delays already forcing it to push the car's race debut to the concluding round of the 2014 season in Interlagos.

However, though the car recently underwent a successful test in Hungary and is ready to race in terms of performance, an issue with DOME headrest mounting means the car was likely to fail homologation.

With this in mind, Strakka opted not to risk the journey and will instead concentrate on further development over the winter ready for the 2015 season.

“The season was a write-off with the issues we have faced,” says sportscar team manager Karl Patman, “We have seen the true performance in the car and know what it is capable of. Now we have to wait until 2015 to show everyone else.

“Despite all the setbacks this year, we remain committed to the FIA WEC. We are going to make sure 2015 makes up for the past 12
