Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi is to make surprise race appearance in the season-ending 6 Hours of Sao Paolo at Interlagos after being signed to drive a Ferrari in the GTE Am class.

The racing legend won the 1972 and 1974 F1 World Championships but has not raced competitively since 2008, when he made a Brazilian GT appearance, while it has been 34 years since his last appearance in Formula 1.

However, aged 67, he has been picked up bby AF Corse to drive a 458 Italia in the GTE Am class alongside Jeffrey Segal and Alessandro Pier Guidi as a way of spurring local publicity for the race.

His nephew Christian Fittipaldi has enjoyed considerable sportscar success in recent years.
