ELMS: Krohn Racing add Negri to drivers list

Oswaldo Negri has joined Krohn Racing for the European Le Mans Series in the upcoming season
Oswaldo Negri has agreed to join Krohn Racing for the European Le Mans Series and will co-drive with team owner Tracy W. Krohn and Nic Jonsson.

Although the official entry list for ELMS, WEC and Le Mans will not be announced until next week, Krohn Racing have finalised its team ahead of the new season after recently competing at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Negri captured pole position for Michael Shank Racing at the 24-hour race in Daytona and will race for Krohn in the Judd-powered Ligier JS P2 in the European championships.

"I'm pleased for the opportunity to join Krohn Racing for the ELMS season," Negri said "I've had the opportunity to test and race the Ligier JS P2 and know what a good car it is.”

The Brazilian racer has spent a decade at Michael Shank Racing in the Grand-Am class for the IMSA TUDOR series and will continue to race for them alongside his Krohn commitments.

Negri will have to miss the Austria round of the WEC due to an IMSA conflict, but compete at the remaining four rounds.

“To compete in North America in IMSA with Michael Shank Racing and in Europe in the ELMS with Krohn Racing in the same chassis is a dream for a driver," said Negri. "We always want more seat time and more race time. This is the best of both worlds for me as a driver.”

Team owner and driver Krohn says he is delighted to welcome Negri aboard his team and is especially pleased he has a team-mate who is already well-experience with the Ligier car.

"We are happy to welcome Negri to Krohn Racing," Krohn said. "Adding him and his experience with the Ligier and on the European circuits, as well as his sports car racing skills as our Silver driver, will greatly increase our ability to be the formidable team we expect to be this season in ELMS.

“We are still awaiting official word on our entry submission, but certainly hope we will be one of the LMP2 candidates in ELMS this season. We've known Negri a long time through our sports car racing in the U.S. and feel he will fit in very well with our team and our plans for European racing with the new Ligier-Judd."
