"It will be a busy year for the team with GT3 programmes now confirmed both in the ADAC GT Masters and now the full Blancpain GT Series," Molitor said. "With three new Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3s though, with some very talented young drivers and our very experienced team behind them I'm very confident that we'll be on the pace immediately.

"The team knows what the required standard is to win at this level and we are more than equal to the task."

Walkinshaw believes it is a fantastic opportunity he has moved into and is determined to succeed from the very first race.

"This is a great programme in a fantastic Championship and with a really exciting new car," Walkinshaw said. "There are races within the Series that any professional driver would want to win, and there are teams and drivers that we all want to beat.

"I couldn't be more delighted with my decision last year to switch from single seaters to sportscars. The quality of the competition is very high, but the career options moving forward are infinitely better. I just can't wait to go racing now."

The 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series begins on 6 April at Nogaro followed by the Endurance Series commencing a week later at Monza.
