Atlia Abreu has joined BMW squad Team Brazil for the upcoming 2015 Blancpain Endurance series after briefly making an appearance in 2013 at the Spanish round.

The Brazilian driver, who finished runner-up in last season's Brazilian Stock Car championship to former Formula 1 star Rubens Barrichello, will join his fellow countryman Valdeno Brito in the number 77 BMW Z4. Caca Bueno and Sergio Jimenez have also been confirmed for Team Brazil's second car in BES and the team will be heavily backed by Banco do Brazil, who also support Formula 1 team Sauber.

The 27-year-old began his racing career in Europe competing in the Formula BMW series and Formula 3 Euros before returning to his native Brazil in 2006. Abreu finished runner-up to four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel while competing in the German Formula BMW series in 2004.

Abreu says he is excited by the new opportunity and a chance of returning to racing in Europe.

Team Brazil will announce its full driver line-up for the Blancpain Endurance Series in the coming weeks ahead of the opening round for the 3 hours of Monza race on the 12th April.
