Audi has continued its dominance as the leading manufacturer in a free practice session hampered by bad weather conditions, as the team's number seven car with Marcel Lotterer at the wheel topped the timesheets by 0.7s.

The #7 R18 e-tron followed up its FP2 dominance in wet conditions, heading the field ahead of Toyota TS040 Hybrid trio Anthony Davidson, Sebastien Buemi and and Kazuki Nakajima in P2.

Conditions took a turn for the worse after the glorious spring sunshine for Friday's practice session, with heavy rain falling the morning which soaked the Silverstone track.

A number of teams to the opportunity to get some solid wet running completed which inevitably saw cars sliding of the circuit, most notably Sebastian Buemi running wide copse corner.

Midway through the session Mike Conway in the number two Toyota Racing ran into a gravel trap which forced a full course yellow flags. As the session entered the final quarter a dry line gradually began to emerge but track temperatures remained well below on yesterday.
