Tequila Patron Extreme Speed Motorsports has announced it will race a pair of Honda-powered Ligier JS P2 chassis for the second round of the World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps.

A stalwart of the American sportscar scene, ESM announced its move into world championship competition for 2015 with the all-new HPD-developed ARX 04b closed-roof coupe.

However, having been forced to use the previous generation car at the Silverstone season opener, the team has made a decision to switch to the newer, closed-roof Ligier JS P2 instead

The move brings ESM into line with the OAK Racing-prepared G-Drive team, which dominated the Silverstone LMP2 opener its Ligier entries. However, unlike its Nissan-powered counterparts, ESM will continue with Honda power.

Testing the car for the first time at Magny-Cours, ESM will give the car its race debut at this weekend's Spa 6 Hours.

"It was cold and rainy in Magny-Cours but that didn't dampen Tequila Patr?n ESM's shakedown of our new Ligiers one bit!" said driver-owner Scott Sharp. The HPD ARX 04b made its race debut in the Daytona 24 Hours, but has struggled to get up to reliable competiveness. As such, it will undergo additional development to bring it up to speed with a view to returning to the track in the coming weeks.
