WEC: Strakka switches to Gibson for rest of 2015

Strakka Racing will enter a Gibson 015S LMP2 car for the remainder of the 2015 WEC season as it transforms its S103 DOME into an LMP1 entry
Strakka Racing has taken delivery of and shaken down its new Gibson 015S prototype as it prepares to see out the 2015 World Endurance Championship season with the LMP2 chassis.

The British team has opted to turn its attentions to the proven Gibson package (formerly known as Zytek) in response to the announcement that the LMP2 will restrict the number of manufacturers to four from 2017.

The move means its current S103 DOME machine, which has only competed in three races so far, will be put on hiatus whilst it is developed into a fully-fledged LMP1 entry instead, with the Gibson 015S becoming its LMP2 entrant for the remainder of 2015.

“The Gibson went together well and as a proven car, we didn't experience any issues during build up and this initial running,” says technical director Jay Davenport. “We now go straight to the Nürburgring test on the 26th July before returning to UK to paint it and apply the livery ahead of the race weekend.”
