Le Mans 24 Hour winner Earl Bamber will return to the World Endurance Championship grid at the Nurburgring this month with GTE-AM class outfit Proton alongside Christian Reid and Khaled Al Qubaisi.

The Porsche factory driver claimed glory at Le Mans in June alongside Nico Hulkenberg and Nick Tandy at the wheel of a Porsche 919 Hybrid and has been drafted into the Proton line-up for the German event on 30th August. The New Zealander is stepping in for Klaus Bachler who is racing for Schutz Porsche at the Sachsenring in the ADAC GT Masters.

Bamber, who has spent the majority of the year competing for Porsche in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship where he's claimed to rostrum finishes, will join fellow Le Mans winner Tandy on the grid for round five of the WEC, with the British driver returning to LMP2 squad KCMG in its ORECA-05 Nissan.
