Nick Heidfeld will sit out the World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain due to a ligaments injury in his right hand.
The Rebellion R-One - AER LMP1 driver has been absent from the past two WEC rounds in Japan and China due to various commitments, including Formula E, but had been set to return to the Swiss squad in Bahrain.
The former F1 driver damaged ligaments in his right hand in a crash during second round of the 2015/16 Formula E championship at Putrajaya in Malaysia. Heidfeld confirmed his absence from Bahrain via his Twitter account and Rebellion have not named a replacement for him on the official driver entry list.
The #12 Rebellion car has already wrapped up the FIA Endurance Trophy for Private LMP1 teams, while Nicolas Prost and Mathias Beche have also clinched the corresponding drivers' title.
