ACO names Norma as sixth chassis constructor for LMP3

Le Mans organiser Automobile Club de l'Ouest has named Norma as the sixth chassis constructor in the LMP3 category for ALMS and ELMS
Le Mans organiser Automobile Club de l'Ouest has named Norma as the sixth chassis constructor in the LMP3 category for its continental championships – Asian and European Le Mans.

Having launched the LMP3 class last year the ACO has extended its number of chassis providers to six to accommodate the growing demand, with French manufacturer Norma Auto Concept joining the already announced Ginetta, Onroak Automotive, Riley Technologies, Adess AG and Dome.

The LMP3 was introduced as a reduced costs class with lower running and technical budgets. After the initial spark with seven LMP3s in ELMS and three in ALMS entries the numbers have ballooned with the entry list expanding to 21 in Europe while the Asian series is expected to launch up to double figures.

In the category Oreca continues to maintain the customer service for the normally-aspirated 420bhp Nissan V8 with X-trac supplying the gearboxes and Magneti Marelli the electronics.
