Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley secured pole position for Porsche on Friday in qualifying for the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Bernhard and Hartley combined to set an average time of 1m 55.793s, leaving them 0.797s up on the sister car, piloted by Marc Lieb and Neel Jani. It was the 13th pole for the 919 Hybrid and Porsche's 10th WEC front-row lock-out.

Behind, Toyota edged out Audi for third, with Kamui Kobayashi and Stephane Sarrazin, piloting the #6 Toyota Gazoo TS040 Hybrid, just 0.018s up on the #8 Audi of Lucas di Grassi, Loic Duval and Oliver Jarvis.

The #5 Toyota was then fifth, from the other Audi, while Rebellion Racing headed the LMP1 privateers, with the #13 car of Matheo Tuscher, Dominik Kraihamer and Alexandre Imperatori 0.579s up on their team-mates.

There was one red flag period, caused by debris on the track when the #4 ByKolles CLM P1/01 AER of Simon Trummer, Oliver Webb, James Rossiter made contact with the LMP2 #44 RGR Sport by Morand Ligier JS P2 piloted by Ricardo Gonzalez, Filipe Albuquerque and Bruno Senna.

In LMP2 itself, G-Drive Racing took pole, with Roman Rusinov and Rene Rast setting a 2m 07.363s average, 0.459secs up on Gustavo Menezes and Nicolas Lapierre in the #36 Signatech Alpine Nissan. Manor's Matthew Rao, Richard Bradley and Roberto Merhi will start third in class, 0.214s further back.

Meanwhile, Sam Bird and Davide Rigon took class honours for the second race in succession in the GTE-Pro class, 0.317s ahead of AF Corse Ferrari team-mates Gianmaria Bruni and James Calado, who in turn were only 0.026s faster than the #97 Aston Martin Vantage V8 of Richie Stanaway, Fernando Rees and Jonathan Adam.

As for GTE-AM classification, Paul dalla Lana and Pedro Lamy took a convincing pole in their Vantage V8, 1.851s up on the #83 Ferrari F458 Italia of Francois Perrodo and Rui Aguas.
