Fernando Alonso enjoyed a productive first test in an LMP1 car as he completed over 100 laps for Toyota in the FIA World Endurance Championship's end-of-season rookie test in Bahrain on Sunday.

Two-time Formula 1 world champion Alonso was confirmed to be testing the Toyota TS050 Hybrid LMP1 car by the team on Saturday night amid speculation the Spaniard is set to race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2018.

After allowing Sebastien Buemi to complete a 10-lap shakedown in the #8 Toyota, Alonso was given the rest of the day to get to grips with the car and acclimatise to LMP1 machinery, having never driven a sports car before.
