Formula Kart Stars has unveiled its twelve-round 2012 calendar that will visit England, Scotland and Wales.
Several circuits are returning to the Lewis Hamilton and Bernie Ecclestone Formula One Management-backed series. Kimbolton in Huntingdon is the first race of the season and makes a return for the first time since 2009. Whilton Mill in Daventry is the venue for the final two rounds.
The Learning Bus meanwhile will be important for helping drivers and their families to study since the Larkhall round in Scotland will be held in June during the important exam period for schools.
“I'm delighted to offer our competitors a calendar that is both challenging and fun,” said championship director Carolynn Hoy. “Kimbolton have made huge strides to make their paddock suitable for our series and Ellough Park always pulls out all the stops for us. We always receive a warm and friendly welcome at Larkhall and drivers simply love the Glan Y Gors circuit.”
There are discussions with the MSA about whether drivers will be eligible to compete on the Continent in the year of their 13th birthday. Genk in Belgium has served as the European venue for FKS in the past, run during the August summer holidays. The ruling affects those in Cadets and MiniMax. If permission is not given for those aged 13, the championship has a contingency plan to hold the round at a circuit with significant 'wow factor' in the UK or in Northern Ireland.
