Chamberlain doubles up at home
9 August 2010
Just one week after winning the prestigious Kartmasters GP Plate event Jordan Chamberlain continued his red-hot winning streak by taking double final honours on 'home' turf in the fifth round of the MSA British Karting Championship at Glan Y Gors.
After a terrible start to the 2010 season the young Welshman, who bounced back from a controversial exclusion from the opening round of the Under 18 World Championship to win the coveted GP Plate a week later, arrived at Glan Y Gors looking to continue his winning form.
Not only did Chamberlain continue his rich vein of form he did it in style, winning both heats and both finals against a small but high quality Super KF grid.
After qualifying third fastest in the eight kart field Chamberlain passed Denis Gorman half way through the opening heat to win by two seconds and then doubled his advantage in heat two as Gorman battled with championship leader Mark Litchfield.
From pole position Chamberlain led all 23-laps of the first final to beat Gorman by a fraction under one second and he repeated that feat in the second final despite some intense pressure from the grand master Litchfield, the man whom Chamberlain narrowly beat at Kartmasters.
However despite the double win and the perfect points haul from the weekend Chamberlain's poor start to the season means he is nearly 100 points behind Litchfield in the standings in seventh place.
Even though Litchfield failed to win a final all weekend for the first time in 2010 he still holds a commanding advantage in the points over Jonathan Walker, who took finishes of third and fourth at GYG with Elliot Burton and James Godbehere next in line.
