Chaney and Waring share Extreme Clay wins
23 August 2010
Defending Super One TKM Extreme Champion David Eadon didn't enjoy the most successful weekend of his season at Clay Pigeon but still holds a commanding lead in the points standings with one round to go.
Eadon could only muster finishes of tenth and twelfth in the two point scoring finals around the compact but flowing Dorset venue but with his nearest championship rival Charlie Bruce-White not faring much better Eadon is still on course to make it two titles in a row.
The first final, held in wet conditions, saw a thrilling duel between Scott Chaney and Josh Waring, which was decided in Chaney's favour by just seven tenths of a second. Ashley Jones, Lloyd Ellison and Randall Lynn completed the top five with Welsh Champion Joe Forsdyke, Bruce-White and Ryan Cole in sixth seventh and eighth places and Eadon, who only started ninth after two poor finishes from his three heats, mired back in tenth.
The second final, held on a drying track, was a bit more sedate as Waring took the lead from Chaney on the opening lap and never looked back, running out a five second winner as Chaney began a long slide down the order. Jason Moore and Phil Smith, who started 21st and 12rth respectively, charged through to take second and third places with Cole fourth and Anthony Lester taking a popular fifth place.
Once again many of the other fancied runners finished deep in the pack with Bruce-White sixth, Forsdyke seventh, Lynn eleventh, Eadon twelfth and Chaney a lowly 14th.
Despite his difficulties Eadon will take a 56 point lead into the final round with Bruce-White second, Forsdyke third and Cole fourth.
