Kellett dominates as Super Cadet debuts

26 October 2010

The much hyped Super Cadet class made its British debut at the final round of the Super One Championship at Paul Fletcher International with James Kellett dominating what were billed as 'demonstration' races.

With a near 20-strong field made up of drivers from Cadet Comer, Honda and WTP there was plenty of interest into the performance of the new machines although few onlookers were expecting such a dominant display from Kellett.

After starting the first final from pole position Kellett traded the lead with Trevyn Jay Nelson and Super One Cadet Comer Champion Tom Harvey in the early laps before sprinting away to a seven second win over this year's Cadet Honda champion Billy Monger with Harvey third, Nelson fourth and WTP frontrunner Sam Priest rounding out the top five.

Monger passed polesitter Kellett on the opening lap of the second final but his lead lasted less than three laps before Kellett took control again. Kellett led the remainder of the race to complete the double win, crossing the line more than four seconds ahead of Monger with Nelson, Priest and Charlie Barlow rounding out the top five.
