John 'Bowes' out from BOC with bottom ten finish

By Matthew Agius

John Bowe has ended his career at Team BOC today after five years at the team with a poor finish on the final day of racing at Phillip Island.

Bowe endured two difficult races during the final day of the Caterpillar Grand Finale, finishing outside the top twenty after collision and accidents ended his half-decade long stint with Brad Jones Racing on a bitter note.

“Well it was certainly not the way I wanted to end my relationship with Team BOC,” said Bowe, who will be replaced by Andrew Jones in 2007.

“I had a difficult first race today when Courtney made contact with me. As he went past me he didn't give me any racing room on the exit and we made contact which damaged the front of my car a touch.”

“The last race was quite weird. The car was quite good before the pit stop, but then with the new tyres we put on, the car just simply didn't behave and I slowly dropped a few positions which was disappointing.”

Teammate Brad Jones also had a poor day in the second BOC Falcon, struggling with the car, despite feeling it improved near the end of the day. After a difficult season for the team, even with Stone Brothers Racing engines, the team will regroup in an effort to develop their BFII Falcons to be better next year.

“I was happier with the #14 Team BOC Falcon in that last race. There were a few dramas on the first lap, but I was able to avoid most of those and gain a few positions as the race wore on,” said Jones.

“It was unbelievably hot in the car in the first race of the day, but fortunately the second race was much cooler. It's certainly a hard way to end the championship.”

“This year has clearly been a difficult one for the team, but hopefully 2007 will be much better for us.”
