After a shocking qualifying performance for the two Stone Brothers Racing operated cars, Russell Ingall almost recovered the damage – missing the points by just one place.

Team mate James Courtney endured his worst result at the Tasmanian track after struggling with poor car speed and penalised with a trip down pit lane for his collision with Shane Price.

Price, Paul Morris and Lee Holdsworth, all Holden drivers, were the only drivers to fail to finish.

Tomorrow's on-track action consists of two more fifty-lap races, and should Tander finish ahead of his championship rivals again, he looks a certainty to claim the 2007 championship trophy.
