Brothers Todd and Rick Kelly have said they feel they have more to gain than their rivals from the non-championship V8 Supercar Manufacturers' Challenge in Melbourne this weekend.

The pair enjoyed a solid start to life with their new Jack Daniel's Racing Holden Commodores in Adelaide and will look to further develop the package in the Albert Park event while also working on further bonding within the Kelly Racing squad.

While no points are an offer this weekend, the focus will be firmly on fighting for top ten finishes with Rick looking to build on his double podium at the event last year.

“This weekend is all about learning as much as we can,” Rick, who lies eighth in the championship standings following the Clipsal, said. 

“We've got a few things we can improve with the car already, which is fantastic and we can learn to work a little better as a team. 


“The GP comes at a fantastic time for us because we are so new and we need just a little more practice working together. We'll make better use of that (event) than any other team because we are so new.” 



Brother Todd has also been successful in Melbourne in the past with two pole positions and a race win, and he admitted the aim from the weekend was to just keep learning.

“We just need to keep learning,” he said. 
“Keep learning how to set these cars up, because there are a few little bit and pieces and a few glitches we are still working through. All the things that other teams have built up over a long period of time, like knowledge in all different areas, we need to learn pretty quickly. 



“Both Jack Daniel's Commodores are brand new, although mine was a little second after Adelaide, but it will be good as new again for this weekend. There is a lot still to learn about the cars, that's for sure, so we will keep getting better and the Grand Prix is a great opportunity to keep learning and improving.”
