Holden teams get Vodafone protest hearing

The five Holden teams that saw an initial protest against Ford rival TeamVodafone dismissed by CAMS stewards at last weekend's Symmons Plains V8 Supercar round will get their day in court following confirmation that an appeal will be heard next Tuesday [9 June].

Walkinshaw Performance, Brad Jones Racing, Garry Rogers Motorsport, Rod Nash Racing and Toll Holden Racing Team all signed the original protest - regarding the legality of the TeamVodafone splitter mount - but which was ruled inadmissible on the grounds of being too late. The focus of the protest was the supposed flexibility of the splitter during the previous 100km round at Winton Raceway.

The area is one that V8 Supercars Australia is attempting to tighten within the regulations, with series technical director Campbell Little recommending that the V8 rule book be changed to match other international touring car series that insist that the splitter be rigidly mounted in a fixed position.

“We have a rule stating that you can remove the horn, we have a rule that states you can take out the central locking system, but we don't have a rule on the specifications for the bumper mount,” Little told BigPond Sport, adding that he has recommended that any rewritten rule should state that 'systems that allow deliberate movement of the approved front bumper bar while the vehicle is in motion are not permitted'.

The V8 Supercar National Court of Appeal will convene to hear the appeal at the CAMS National Office in Melbourne from 7pm on 9 June, but has decided that the public and media will not be permitted to attend.

What a feed of Garbage. Holden is pissed because the Golden boy Tander is not out there in front. It smells just the same as in the 90's when Ford was winning all the time, Holden had a cry and got the rules changed. Harden up, the Ford's and Holdens are so evenly matched as has been proven this year already.
