Wilson becomes McGrath to raise cancer awareness

The Wilson Security Racing team will undergo a makeover ahead of the 2010 campaign, transforming into Team McGrath, with backing from Australian feminine hygiene brand Pureste.

The one-year half-million dollar deal will launch the latest breast cancer awareness drive, with signature 'pinked' cars driven by the only female V8 Supercar driver, Leanne Tander, and three other drivers.

“We are so pleased to support Team McGrath in their important mission to raise breast awareness and awareness about the invaluable role the McGrath Breast Care Nurses play in providing support for families experiencing breast cancer," Pureste co-founder Adrienne Peele said.

“Our company was born out of a desire to encourage female well-being and peace of mind, and to recognise the strength and power of women, so we feel this is a perfect alliance. Nothing quite says 'Girl Power' than high performance pink V8 Supercars driven with passion and determination by a team of committed drivers, including the only female driver in the league.”

Team McGrath will sport new Pureste-branded helmets, race suits and merchandise alongside its eye-catching livery.

Tander said she has noticed the increased support of female fans and V8 Supercar members and is proud to be working with Pureste as a driver for Team McGrath.

“Over 40 per cent of all V8 Supercar fans are female and I can see the number of females interested in the sport growing through the ranks, both behind the scenes and on the track,” she claimed, “I am so pleased to be spreading a message of health and wellness to all these women.”

I don't normally comment on the V8's on 'crash'

However, I grew up in Bathurst and I've been emailed some disturbing news about the preparations for the race there.
The department for national parks and wild life has been 'instructed' to cull (kill) 140 kangaroos that live on Mount Panorama before the up coming race.

This is almost the entire remaining wild population of Kangaroos living near Bathurst.

They're doing this because one Kangaroo got hit and killed by a race car 2 years ago on live TV and some kiddies got upset.

Can you believe this?
