How are the rules going to determine what Merc has to do to built a v8 supercar?
Easiest way is just stick a v8 into a holden or ford shell. Also the cheapest. Their nearly identical anyway, aren't they?
Just ask Whincup. Sure he would like to try a Merc.

Mercedes probably will not join the V8's. The only reason why fans are calling for more manufacturers is because the competition has become extremely boring. Mercedes will not approve of the governing body ensuring 'Australia's Own' wins all the races. For the last 4 decades Australian touring car racing has been led with homologation special vehicles and parts, mid year technical rule changes & information sharing - 99% of these ratifications have clearly served Holden. The problem is not lack of competition between manufacturers, but a sport that has endured a manipulated outcome for so long that most people actually forget its fundamentally corrupted
