Congrats to Tander but a huge raspberry to the stewards who issued the mechanical black flag to Whincup...issued AFTER the lose body work they were worried about had already come off and was no longer an issue... and probably wouldn't have been loose at all if Courtney hadn't tried knock Whincup out of the way when his overtaking move failed...

Are you sure it was AFTER? He is not the first person to have this happen to him. Just in the biggest and best team so the situation seems different. I personally did think that it had already been out (Black Flag) on the main straight and the piece came off on the exit of Turn 7. But I could be wrong as I was watching it at in the morning

If Courtney hit him and gained a position out of it then he would have gotten a penalty, but what happened to Whincup has happened to both the Kelly brothers before

Great race and congrats to Garth and the team. :)

The rule that once a black (mechanical) flag has been given it can not be reversed is dumb, it robbed the spectators and viewers of an even closer fight to the end.

I think they should have all the races on street circuits, they make the racing more exiting.

Rules are rules, no question. However they MUST amend the rule that caused Whincup grief for the sake of us, the spectators. The piece of bodywork that he was black flagged for, dislodged itself from the car before he had time to come in. Therefore he should have been allowed to continue, right? Sometimes common sense doesn't prevail, so an amendment is needed. That incident spoilt the whole race.

"Toll Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander is now the only man that can claim the $2 million V8 Supercar Grand Slam"

Thanx again, Crash, for that piece of sxxx. Grand Slam winner must ONLY win Bathurst, at the other 3 round he can finish wherever he wants to. It's the points count that matters.

@race: we should thank V8's IPO for implementing good ol' NASCAR tricks. Why not bring some artificial spark into a championship?...

BTW, Courtney should've been black-flagged for ruining Whinners' race. Or they only want to give drive-thrus to Lownsy every time they can???...
