Only 35 with a wife and two young children, this is terribly sad. Always seemed like a genuinely nice guy and a talented driver, my thoughts are for his family, team and friends. RIP Jason, you will be greatly missed.

As a kiwi, in a small population, we dont have many guys that reach the pinnacle of motorsports, but this guy was the real deal, R.I.P mate, hope all the best for you family, what a tragic year for motorsports...

So sorry to see a young man taken by cancer, I could not imagine for one minute how his family are right now, having two girls of similar age is hard for me to comprehend how my wife would coup with this.

RIP PEACE JASON, You were a First class driver and always pleasent to watch on tv.

RIP.

I had no clue of who this guy was, but it is very sad indeed, with two young daughters.
Crash.net should have done better for a last good bye in showing his face rather than a helmet !

Sadly Jason's plight didn't recieve much coverage outside of australia (I think the story about casey stoner driving a car getting more comments than this sad new speaks volumes).

Its a real shame when anyone is faced with such a terrible illness - but to have fought to the end with such good humor, in the public eye with no hint of self pity shows what a class act Jason Richards was.

Its only fitting that during his battle he was able to retain an amount of normality, and continue to do what he loved -drive racecars. As well as recieving so much support from all the V8 supercar community, even though its a series where the fans are so polarised between red and blue.

The only positive I can offer is that he is no longer in pain.

I would also like to suggest that if you can afford to do so - please make a contribution to cancer research.

My thoughts are with Jason and his family.

RIP Jason.
