Team Vodafone will aim to continue its podium form at Queensland in the latest round of the V8 Supercar Championship this weekend.
The team has run strongly at its home venue in recent years but has only taken to the top step of the podium on one occasion with drivers Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup.
Last season, the pair took third and second during the race weekend and Lowndes – who won the mini enduro at the circuit back in 2006 – said that there was a great chance of succeeding again this time around.
“Our form in the last couple of rounds has been good, so we're looking forward to continuing that at Queensland Raceway," he said. “The circuit is more challenging than it looks when it comes to setup, but in recent years our cars have been strong there.
“Jamie and I were both on the podium last year; it'd be great to repeat that this weekend.”
Whincup recorded his first ever pole position at the Ipswich track last season and having added two more poles to his resume so far this season, he will now aim to secure his maiden Willowbank victory this time around.
"This is the team's home track and where we base all our testing, we've got two very fast cars so are going into the weekend full of confidence," he said. "There has been a few interesting changes since last year. The circuit has received a new treatment which should alter the grip levels. We have tested on this but have not raced on it yet.
"Adding to this is the new control tyre which was debuted at Darwin - these two factors will make practice and qualifying interesting and will make it even more important to get on top of setup early."
