Jack Daniels Racing has announced that Jack Perkins and Nathan Pretty will complete its driver line-up for the V8 Supercar endurance events at Phillip Island and Bathurst, joining up with regular pair Todd Kelly and Shane Price.
Perkins, son of team boss Larry Perkins, will be making his return to top-level V8 Supercar competition for the first time since he was forced to give up his drive with the team last season after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
Having been cleared to return to racing, he has spent this year competing in the Fujitsu Series and currently lies tenth in the championship standings with four rounds completed.
"I've been confident that this day would come, and I'm pleased that it's happened this quickly," he said. "Diabetes is something that you can manage and live with, and carry on a pretty normal life and that includes driving.
"It was necessary at the time to take some time away from the sport and sort things out, so that I could come back and give 110 per cent to driving. I can't wait to get back to Bathurst, it's the race everyone wants to win."
Pretty said he was pleased to be racing for Perkins' outfit for the first time as he looks to build on his record of five top ten finishes at the famed Mount Panorama circuit.
"Larry's one of those legends of the sport whom you always hope you'll get a chance to work with, and until now it hasn't happened," he said. "I've heard a lot from Todd about the way the team goes about it and I'm really looking forward to working with them and seeing what we can do come enduro time."
The exact make-up of the team's line-up for the two enduro races has yet to be announced.
