New deal for Tander

Former V8 Supercar Championship title winner Garth Tander has signed a new deal to tie him to the Toll Holden Racing Team for another two seasons.

Tander, who won the title back in 2007, currently lies third in the championship this time around and was a winner last time out at Sandown – where team-mate Will Davison helped ensure a perfect weekend for the Walkinshaw Racing-run team with victory in race one.

The announcement of a new deal ends speculation that Tander could move elsewhere and he said he was delighted to announce the deal.

“I am absolutely delighted to have re-signed with HRT for another two years,” Tander said.

“This caps off a great week for the Toll Holden Racing Team and puts us in a strong position to push hard for this year's Championship and future titles.”

Walkinshaw Racing CEO Craig Wilson was also thrilled to see Tander commit himself to the team.

“Under Walkinshaw Racing's stewardship we have put together an excellent management team, strong driver line-up and second to none team of engineers, mechanics and support staff to run the Toll Holden Racing Team,” he said. “Furthermore we have fantastic corporate support, with many of our sponsors being a part of the team for more than ten years.

“By re-signing Garth to a new contract we have further guaranteed the long term stability and future prospects for the team, but remain singularly focused on this year's Driver and Teams' Championships.”
