“For our part we are now going to spend the next fortnight developing an exciting future plan for the Gold Coast event for many years to come,” he said.
“Key objectives of this plan will include reducing the footprint to the Gold Coast event and ensuring that a quality program, including an international component, is developed.
“We will have this plan ready to roll out for the review set down by the Queensland Government.”
Mr Cochrane said it was in the best interests of all to play a major role in the event planning.
“V8 Supercars Australia is not interested in ending up in an embarrassing position again going forward with this event. Our reputation and our name in being involved with quality events is absolutely vital to the good health and future of our sport,” he said.
“Certainly IMG and the GCMEC must now recognise that this event can not do without V8 Supercars Australia and we will be demanding to be fully included in any plans going forward.”
