2014 V8 Supercars runner-up Shane Van Gisbergen will drive for Triple Eight Engineering next season as the Red Bull backed squad expands to a three-car outfit.

Van Gisbergen has signed a three-year deal with the multi-championship winning team to join the current six-time V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup and series legend Craig Lowndes at Red Bull Racing Australia.

The 25-year old Kiwi already has some knowledge of the outfit he will join next season as Van Gisbergen currently uses a Triple Eight prepared Holden Commodore at Tekno Autosports.

Van Gisbergen is widely regarded as the biggest danger in ending Whincup's current reign of dominance after clinching seven of his nine victories since joining Tekno Autosports two-years-ago.

"Given the growing trend of larger teams and the intense competition that this brings, we felt that this is the ideal time to add another entry to our championship campaign to enhance the competitive depth of the team," said Triple Eight Managing Director Roland Dane.

"With Jamie, Craig and now Shane at the wheels of the Triple Eight Holdens, we will be fielding the strongest line-up in one of the world's most closely fought categories, but for now we are focussing on the 2015 championship."

Lowndes has also re-signed with Triple Eight Engineering, which will see the two-time V8 Supercars champion stay with his current team until at least the end of 2017.

Alongside the driver deals, Red Bull confirmed a continued partnership with Triple Eight until the end of 2017 with an option to carry on into 2018.
