V8 Dunlop Series 2016 calendar revealed

The Australian V8 Supercars Dunlop Series 2016 seven-event calendar has been announced, with Clipsal 500 Adelaide starting the action on the 3-6 March.

The series is set to expand next year with the addition of two marquee events as confirmed by V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton and he sees it as the 'number one support category to the V8s'.

"This is great outcome for the V8 Supercars Dunlop Series and will ensure that we are showcasing the next generation of stars to fans who can follow their careers from the beginning," Warburton said. "Many of our drivers including Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert and Scott McLaughlin have made their way through the Dunlop Series and it has proved to be successful pathway for many young drivers.

"Now the series will receive even greater exposure and we look forward to some exciting racing in 2016."

The V8 Dunlop Series begins in Adelaide before heading to Phillip Island on the 15-17 April and Perth on the 6-8 May. The midpoint of the season will be celebrated at Townsville on 8-10 July before concluding rounds at Sandown, Bathurst and Sydney. All events will run alongside the V8 championship.
