"V8 organisers ... will convert all race graphics from the kilometres/litres metric system used in Australia to the miles/gallons measurements understood by Americans."
What a stupendously stupid thing to do! The race is run in metric and most Americans have at least a passing familiarity with metric (and can learn it easily when it is presented properly).
These races are an international sport and should be reported in international units, which are metres, litres, kilometres per hour etc.
Get with it!!!!
