Bryan Staring has won his and Kawasaki's first FIM Superstock 1000 pole position of the season after emerging on top of a keenly fought qualifying session at the Nurburgring.

Having allowed French duo Jeremy Guarnoni and Sylvain Barrier dispute the top spot during free practice and provisional qualifying, Staring swept to the head of the leaderboard with little over five minutes remaining with a time good enough to rebuff the efforts of his team-mates.

Crucially for the championship battle, all four title contenders will make up the front row, with series leader Eddi La Marra also squeezing ahead of Barrier and provisional pole sitter Guarnoni.

Some five tenths further back, Kev Coghlan consolidated his good run of recent form by claiming fifth on the grid, ahead of local favourite Markus Reiterberger on the Alpha BMW, while Staring's team-mate Leandro Mercado posted a big improvement to qualify seventh.

Fabio Massei rounded off the second row, while Christoffer Bergman and Ondrej Jezek complete the top ten on their respective Kawasaki and Ducati machines.
