WSS » Lowes ‘angry’ as title hopes ended

Sam Lowes is out of the 2012 World Supersport Championship running after an error at the Nurburgring officially ends his slim title hopes.
Lowes ‘angry’ as title hopes ended
Sam Lowes says he is 'really angry' at the mistake that has officially put him out of the running for the 2012 World Supersport Championship with two rounds remaining.

The Bogdanka PTR Honda rider, one of the favourites for this year's title, looked to be a strong contender for victory in Germany after a strong performance in practice and qualifying, but appeared to have problems replicating that pace in the race.

Indeed, though he was embroiled in the front pack, Lowes spent much of his race battling with Fabien Foret for third, while key rival Kenan Sofuoglu led out front.

With 35 points between them heading into the race, Lowes could not afford to finish behind Sofuoglu at the Nurburgring, but having just lost third to Foret on the run down to the first corner on lap 16, he suffered a crash.

Dropping to 13th place at the chequered flag, Lowes – who also crashed at Assen and Misano – was livid with himself as his title hopes were brought to an abrupt halt.

"I'm really angry. I've made a mistake and lost the front. I'd like to apologise to everyone, both the whole Bogdanka PTR Honda team and our fans. There are still two races to go until the end of the season so let's go out and finish the year on a high at Portimao and Magny Cours."

The team should be apologising for not putting Sam on a proper bike. It just isn't fast enough!! Huge respect to Sam and pint size Cluzel for running with Superglue on it. Hopefully Sam will get a ride with a decent team for next year.
